City Council is being asked to consider a zoningamendmentrequesttoCommercialRetail(CR)consisting of 4.0 acres (174,240 SF)of land outofTrack2,Lot 8,Block 12,Port Acres,JeffersonCounty,Texas .
The property is located at 2689 65th Street.
PURPOSE…
The purpose of the zoning request is to change thezoningfromLowDensityResidential(LDR),formerly referred to as Single Family (SF)toCommercialRetail(CR),formerly referred to asLightCommercial(LC),for the development of anextendedstayhotel.
BACKGROUND…
September 13, 2023 –Pre-Development Meeting conducted
November 13, 2023 –The application for the zoning request was submitted to the Planning Division.
November 17, 2023 -notification sent to adjacent property owners within 200 ft.
November 18, 2023 –Public Notice published in Port Arthur Newspaper.
The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) met to conduct a public hearing on December 4, 2023, at 5:30 p.m.
The Planning Commission voted 5:0 recommending approval of said request.
On November 28, 2023, -City Council approved Res. No. 23-514, calling for a public hearing.
December 30, 2023 -Notification was published in the Port Arthur Newspaper and mailed to adjacent property owners on January 9, 2023.
COMMERCIAL RETAIL
The purpose of the CommercialRetail(CR)zoned district is toprovidealocationforlightcommercialandretailactivities.These locations are typically alongmajorthoroughfaresandhighways.
