A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A NEGOTIATING TEAM UNDER CHAPTER 174 OF THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE ANNOTATED, TO CONDUCT COLLECTIVE BARGAINING WITH THE BARGAINING AGENT OF THE PORT ARTHUR POLICE ASSOCIATION OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR POLICE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has received notice from the Port Arthur Police Association pursuant to the terms of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement to initiate the process for collective bargaining negotiations; and, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS: Section 1.That,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, pursuant to Chapter 174 of the Texas Local Government Code Annotated, the following persons are hereby designated to conduct collective bargaining on behalf of the City with representatives of the Port Arthur Police Association, and the bargaining agent of the Police Officers of the City of Port Arthur Police Department are as follows: City Manager, Assistant City Manager - Operations, Police Chief, Director of Finance, Assistant City Manager—Administration, City Attorney or designee. Section 3. That,the City Manager is authorized to designate a chief spokesperson. Section 4. That,the City Manager is also hereby authorized to provide a suitable place for the collective bargaining sessions,and to provide such supporting City personnel as needed by the City negotiating team. In the current CBA Article 2 titled "Duration" section 2 states"the city, and the association agree that the parties will meet no later than March 1, 2024 to initiate discussions with regard to the new collective bargaining agreement to take affect upon expiration of agreement".
