PARKS AND RECREATION DEPARTMENT
According to a Systematic Review of Dog Park Design
and Management Strategies, individual scholars
indicated that the existence of dog parks in the
community can increase property values, bring
vibrancy to the community, and enhance emotional
attachment of dog walkers.

Background
On December 19, 2023, City Council requested that the Parks and
Recreation Department survey the neighborhood around
Roosevelt Park, located at 1900 Gulfway Dr., to gather viewpoints
on whether the residents are interested in having a dog park in
their neighborhood.

Survey Results
35 surveys were mailed out to property owners within a
200’ radius
3 of the property owners owned multiple properties
49% of the surveys mailed were outside of the 200’ radius
3 surveys were returned undeliverable
2 surveys were filled out and mailed back to the
department
2 surveys were filled out online

•I live directly across from the park. Can you please provide
adequate parking to accommodate this attraction. Thanks
•The DP should not be in a residential location surrounded
by homes. Thank you.
•Safety running on Gulfway. Please put somewhere else.
