A RESOLUTION APPOINTING A NEGOTIATING TEAM UNDER CHAPTER 174 OF THE TEXAS LOCAL GOVERNMENT CODE ANNOTATED, TO CONDUCT COLLECTIVE BARGAINING WITH THE BARGAINING AGENT OF THE INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF FIREFIGHTERS (IAFF) LOCAL 397 OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR FIRE DEPARTMENT WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has received notice from the Port Arthur Fire Fighters IAFF Local 397 pursuant to the terms of the current Collective Bargaining Agreement to initiate the process for collective bargaining negotiations shown as Exhibit"A". NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS: Section 1.That,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, pursuant to Chapter 174 of the Texas Local Government Code Annotated, the following persons are hereby designated to conduct collective bargaining on behalf of the City with representatives of International Association of Fire Fighters Local 397 the bargaining agent of the Fire Fighters of the City of Port Arthur Fire Department are as follows: City Manager, Director of Human Resources, Police Chief, Director of Finance, Assistant City Manager—Administration, City Attorney or designee. Section 3. That,the City Manager is authorized to designate a chief spokesperson. Section 4. That,the City Manager is also hereby authorized to provide a suitable place for the collective bargaining sessions,and to provide such supporting City personnel as needed by the City negotiating team. Chapter 174 Sub Chapter 174.10, and Article 3 of our current labor agreement. Please be advised by this correspondence of our intent and request for Collective Bargaining for upcoming fiscal year 2024/2025. Under the statue provisions, we, the parties, have an obligation to meet at a reasonable time and bargain in good faith. We therefore respectfully request that at your earliest convenience, you notify us of available dates for such purpose. It is our hope that now as in the past we will, through good faith negotiations, reach a successful and mutually beneficial agreement.
