No. 23754—Purchase of Rotating Assembly for the Allis Chalmers Pump at the Port Acres WWTP Influent Station Introduction: The intent of this Agenda Item is to seek City Council's approval to purchase a new Rotating Assembly for the Allis Chalmers Pump at the Port Acres WWTP Influent Station from Automatic Pump and Equipment Company,Inc.of Beaumont,Texas,with a projected budgetary impact amount of$48,572.00. Background: The pumps in the Port Acres WWTP Influent Station were installed approximately 40 years ago and a rotating assembly on one Allis Chalmers Pump failed and removed the pump from service. This assembly needs to be replaced. The pump is around forty years old and the Company no longer exist. The City staff requested quotes from 16 mechanical shops and were able to receive two quotes for rotating assemblies that we can place in this obsolete pump. The lowest quote was provided by Automatic Pump of Beaumont, Texas. Budget Impact: The lowest quote provided is $48,572.00 and funds are available in Account No. 410-40-225- 5318-00-00-000, Equipment Maintenance. • Recommendation: It is recommended that City Council approve PR #23754 authorizing the City Manager to purchase the rotating assembly for the Allis Chalmers Pump as discussed and/or outlined above. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO PURCHASE A ROTATING ASSEMBLY FOR THE ALLIS-CHALMERS PUMP AT THE PORT ACRES WASTEWATER TREATMENT PLANT (WWTP) FROM AUTOMATIC PUMP AND EQUIPMENT COMPANY, INC. OF BEAUMONT, TEXAS WITH A TOTAL PROJECTED BUDGETARY IMPACT OF $48,572.00. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN WATER UTILITIES ACCOUNT NO. 410-40-225-5318-00-00-000 EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE WHEREAS, Allis-Chalmers Pumps were installed at the Port Acres Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Influent Station approximately forty (40) years ago and the rotating assembly on one of the pumps reached its life expectancy, failed and was removed from service; and, WHEREAS, in order to replace the assembly, City staff requested quotes from sixteen (16) vendors and were able to receive only two quotes for rotating assemblies due to the pump being outdated and obsolete; and WHEREAS, Automatic Pump and Equipment Company Inc., of Beaumont, Texas provides the lowest of the two quotes for the total amount of$48,572.00 (Exhibit"A"); and, WHEREAS,city staff finds it appropriate and recommends that the procurement be made with this vendor to replace the rotating assembly. NOW THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY CITY COUNCIL OF CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT,the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, P.R.
