AN ORDINANCE UPDATING THE OFFICIAL MAP OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR TO CONFIRM THE OFFICIAL CORPORATE BOUNDARIES AND EXTRATERRITORIAL JURISDICTION (ETJ)/INDUSTRIAL DISTRICT OF PORT ATHUR,TEXAS; PROVIDING FOR MAINTENANCE AND FILING OF THE OFFICIAL MAP AND RELATED MATTERS. WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 15-26, the Official Map of the City of Port Arthur was adopted to confirm the official corporate boundaries and extraterritorial jurisdiction/industrial district of Port Arthur, Texas; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 18-31, an updated Official Map was adopted to reflect the disannexation of multiple tracts of land along Taylor's Bayou, the Intracoastal Canal, State Highway 87, Keith Lake, and the Sabine Neches Waterway (Ordinance 18-14); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 19-07, the Official Map was updated to reflect the annexation of 2.543 acres of land adjacent to Terminal Road near State Highway 82 (Ordinance 18-72); and WHEREAS,pursuant to Ordinance 23-04, on February 14, 2023,the Official Map was updated again to reflect the disannexation of 39.73 acres tract of land near West Port Arthur Road and Brai Drive (Ordinance 22-29) and 41.589 acres along Taylor's Bayou, the Intracoastal Canal, State Highway 87, Keith Lake and Sabine Neches Waterway(Ordinance 22-83); and WHEREAS, pursuant to Ordinance 23-58, on November 21, 2023, the City disannexed 17.97 acres tract of land near West Port Arthur Road and Brai Drive; and WHEREAS,pursuant to Ordinance 24-22,on May 7,2024,the City also disannexed 11.59 acres tract of land along State Highway 87 near the Intracoastal Waterway; and WHEREAS, due to the two recent disannexations, it is now deemed appropriate to amend the Official Map to reflect the changes to Port Arthur's official boundaries; and WHEREAS, the attached map in Exbibit "A" hereby sets out the true, correct and official corporate boundaries of the City and its exterritorial jurisdiction/industrial district. P.O. No. 7251 05/28/24 ht NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS,THAT: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. Official Map. That the map attached hereto and marked and labeled "Corporate Limits&Extra Territorial Jurisdiction of the City of Port Arthur(dated 05/20/2024)", is hereby adopted as the official map of the City. The official map shall be maintained in the office of the City Secretary. The map may be amended and corrected from time to time by the City Council. The City Limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction/industrial district indicated upon said map are hereby declared to be the official City Limits and extraterritorial jurisdiction/industrial district for the City of Port Arthur. All property shown on the official map as within the City Limits are hereby declared to be within the City Limits of the City of Port Arthur. The City Secretary shall record the official map among the records of Jefferson County. Section 3. Boundary Changes. All boundaries after the effective date of this ordinance shall be reflected on the official map upon completion of the annexation, extension of extraterritorial jurisdiction, or other change in the boundaries of the City and the City's extraterritorial jurisdiction. The official map shall be annotated to indicate: 1. The date of the boundary change; 2. The number of the ordinance or resolution, if any by which the change was made; and 3. A reference to the minutes or ordinance records or resolution records in which the ordinance or resolution is recorded in full. Section 4. Effective Date. This ordinance shall be in force and effect from and after its passage on the date shown below.
