INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM
Date: October 21, 2024
To: The Honorable Mayor and City Council
Through: Ronald Burton, City Manager ycy,.
From: Timothy W. Duriso, Chief of Police 10
RE: P.R. 23991 —A resolution amending Resolution 24-383 to allow the Police
Department to apply for the FY 2025 Project Safe Neighborhood Program, with
no cash match.
Introduction:
The intent of this Agenda Item is to amend Resolution 24-383 to allow the Police Department
to apply for FY2025 Project Safe Neighborhood Program, with no cash match.
Background:
Pursuant to Resolution 24-383, the City Council authorized the Police Department to apply for
FY 2025 Project Safe Neighborhood program, with no cash match. The Port Arthur Police
Department made application, and upon review of supporting documentation to apply for the
grant to include the resolution, the US Department of Justice noticed that we did not include in
the resolution that the City Council designates the City Manager as the grantee's authorized
official, and is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter or terminate the grant on the
behalf of the applicant agency.
Budget Impact:
The grant is 100% funded with no grant match requirement.
Recommendation:
It is recommended that City Council authorize the amendment to Resolution 24-383 as
discussed above.
