Williams, Director of Human Resour RE: A Resolution Approving a Property Damage Settlement in the Amount of$10,691.02 for Damages to City of Port Arthur Police Unit #2264 Nature of the request: On November 16, 2024, the operator of Unit #2264 was traveling on 25'1' Street when the police unit was struck by a citizen who failed to control their speed. The citizen struck the back of the police unit with their front end. Both units came to a rest after the impact in a private drive. The citizen stated he was not paying attention to the roadway but to a unit turning in front of them. .StaffAnalysis, Considerations: The City filed a claim with Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company. Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company has offered the City of Port Arthur a settlement of $10,691.02 (Exhibit "A" attached) which is considered a fair and reasonable settlement for Unit #2264. If additional damages are discovered, Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company will be notified immediately for additional coverage payments. Recommendation: I recommend approval of Proposed Resolution No. 24162 authorizing the property damage settlement against Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company for damage sustained to Police Unit #2264 (2015 Ford Taurus Interceptor). Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company has offered to settle the claim for $10,691.02. This is considered a fair and reasonable settlement. Bud'et Considerations: The funds received will be deposited in the Insurance Proceeds Project #HINGF. "Remember we are here to serve the Citizens of Port Arthur." P.R. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO EXECUTE THE SETTLEMENT OF A PHYSICAL DAMAGE CLAIM IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,691.02 MADE AGAINST PROGRESSIVE INSURANCE AS A RESULT OF PROPERTY DAMAGE TO POLICE UNIT #2264 WHEREAS, on November 16, 2024, the operator of police unit #2264 (2017 Ford Taurus Interceptor) was struck by a citizen who failed to control their speed traveling on 25th Street; and, WHEREAS, as a result of the damage, a claim was filed with Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company; and, WHEREAS, Progressive County Mutual Insurance Company has offered to settle the claim for $10,691 .02, which is considered a fair and reasonable settlement. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1. That, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That, the City Manager is hereby authorized to execute settlement in the amount of $10,691.02, which is considered a fair and reasonable settlement as delineated in Attachment "A". P.R.
