City of Port Arthur— Parks & Recreation Department
Dear Parks & Recreation Team,
On behalf of both the African American Cultural Society and Mastering Manliness, a 501(c)(3)
nonprofit organization, I am honored to submit proposals for two cornerstone events of the
upcoming Juneteenth 2025 Celebration in Port Arthur:
1. Juneteenth Parade & Park Celebration —Wednesday, June 19, 2025
2. Juneteenth Softball Tournament & Community Day— Saturday, June 14, 2025
Each event is rooted in cultural significance and community engagement, aiming to bring
together residents of all ages in celebration of freedom, history, and local pride.
To ensure both events are safe, accessible, and successful, we respectfully request city support
as outlined in the attached proposals. We are also requesting a scheduled logistics meeting
similar to the coordination process from last year to align efforts across departments and
ensure clear communication. Event maps for both the softball tournament and parade will be
provided ahead of the logistics meeting to ensure alignment with city departments.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Juneteenth a vibrant and meaningful
celebration for the City of Port Arthur. Please don't hesitate to reach out if additional information
or documentation is needed.
Sincerely,
Melea Linden
