Badon FENCE REPORT 2025 2018 2 Fence Information Fence Height Regulations in Various Texas Cities Introduction: This report provides an overview of the maximum allowed heights for fences in selected cities across Texas, highlighting regulations and considerations, particularly in relation to strong winds and storm conditions. Cities Reviewed: The following cities were researched for their fence height regulation: • Galveston • Nederland • Beaumont • Groves • Plano • Frisco • Baytown • Dallas Findings: In all the cities reviewed, the maximum height allowed for fences is eight (8) feet. This regulation appears to be consistent across the surveyed areas, which may be designed to enhance aesthetics, provide privacy, and meet community standards. Additional Considerations: According to the Chief Building Official in Port Arthur, Texas, there is an additional requirement for any fence exceeding eight (8) feet in height. Such fences will need to be engineered to withstand strong winds arising from storms. This requirement emphasizes the importance of safety and structural integrity in area subject to severe weather. 3 Conclusion: This maximum fence height of eight (8) feet in the reviewed Texas cities aligns with common regulatory practices. In addition, the City of Port Arthur’s Fence Ordinance appears to be in accord with other Texas Cities around the State.
