Donations for Supplies, Amenities, and Door Prizes
Introduction:
The intent of this agenda item is to request the City Council's approval of P.R. 24833 authorizing the City
Manager to accept grants and monetary donations from businesses, industries, and community groups for
the Earth Day City-Wide Clean-Up.
Background:
Pursuant to Resolution No. 26-098,the City Council approved the City Manager to facilitate participation in
this year's Earth Day celebration. In addition to providing volunteers for clean-up, various entities opted to
make grants available or provide monetary assistance. The committee will provide a comprehensive list of
all monetary contributions received for the Earth Day event after it is over.
This year's slogan is "Plastics vs. Planet", highlights the importance of reducing plastic pollution and
protecting our environment for future generations. The Committee has identified major thoroughfares that
will be assigned to volunteers who will register to participate in this worthwhile cause.
The Committee will be responsible for management of donations from industries, commercial entities,
and community groups. Donations from sponsors will be in the form of volunteers,supplies,equipment,
and money. All donations will be handled according to the guidelines regulated by the City.
Budget Impact:
The budget impact has not been.determined at this time; however, it is contingent upon donations
received, and this resolution will be amended before the event to reflect budget impact.
Recommendation:
The intent of this agenda item is to request the City Council's approval of P.R. 24833 authorizing the City
Manager to accept grants and monetary donations from businesses, industries, and community groups for
the Earth Day City-Wide Clean-Up.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY TO ACCEPT GRANTS,
CONTRIBUTIONS OF GOODS, SERVICES, AND MONEY FROM INDUSTRY,
COMMERICAL SPONSORS AND COMMUNITY GROUPS FOR THE CITY OF
PORT ARTHUR'S EARTH DAY CITY-WIDE CLEAN-UP ON APRIL 25, 2026.
WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur is committed to ensuring that the City is clean and safe for
its citizens; and.
WHEREAS, Earth Day will give citizens, businesses, community groups and agencies an
opportunity to partner in keeping the City clean; and,
WHEREAS,the City of Port Arthur's Earth Day City-Wide Clean-Up is Saturday,April 25,2026,
with the City of Port Arthur's Earth Day Committee(Committee)planning participatory events throughout
the week, prior to Earth Day; and,
WHEREAS, pursuant to Resolution No. 26-098. the City Council approved participation and a
Committee was established to plan the clean-up of major thoroughfares throughout the City; and.
WHEREAS, local businesses, industries, and community groups donated supplies, amenities.
equipment and door prizes as a means of participating in the Earth Day Clean-up; and.
WHEREAS,grant monies and monetary contributions are also being made available for the event;
and,
WHEREAS, the Committee will provide a comprehensive list of all entities that gave monetary
donations; and,
WHEREAS, acceptance of grants and monetary donations for participation in the Earth Day
Celebration is herein deemed an appropriate action.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS:

Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and,
Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Port Arthur hereby authorizes the City Manager
to accept monetary and/or material contributions for the Earth Day Event; and,
Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.
