A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS, ACCEPTING
THE RETIREMENT OF THE CITY SECRETARY SHERRI BELLARD AND
APPOINTING AN ACTING CITY SECRETARY EFFECTIVE JUNE 1,2026
WHEREAS, after 29 years of service to the City of Port Arthur, Texas, the City Secretary, Sherri
Bellard,has announced that she will retire, effective June 1, 2026; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to the City Charter of Port Arthur,Texas,Article VII,the City Council appoints
the City Secretary.Pending the selection of a new City Secretary,the City Council needs to appoint
an Acting City Secretary to ensure continuity of services.
Now THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR,TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct.
SECTION 2. That the City Council hereby accepts the retirement of its City Secretary, Sherri
Bellard to become effective on June 1, 2026.
SECTION 2. That is herein appointed as Acting City Secretary,with
compensation set at Range , Step with $ per month car allowance.
SECTION 3. That the Acting City Secretary shall comply with the City Charter in all aspects,
including performance of the duties of the City Secretary.
SECTION 4. That this Resolution shall be effective on June 1, 2026.
SECTION 5. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.
READ,ADOPTED AND APPROVED,this 19th day of May, 2026 AD, at a Regular Meeting of the City
Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas by the following vote: AYES:
