No. 25039 —A Resolution Authorizing the City Manager or His Designee to Enter Into a Contract with Sigma Engineers of Beaumont, Texas for Design Services Related to the Second Floor Renovation of the Pleasure Island Office. Introduction: The City Council is being asked to approve P.R.No. 25039, authorizing the City Manager or his designee to enter into a contract with Sigma Engineers of Beaumont,Texas, for Design Services related to the second-floor renovation of the Pleasure Island office. Background: The Pleasure Island Office, constructed more than thirty-seven years ago, has experienced significant deterioration due to age and prolonged exposure to the elements. Over the years, multiple storm events caused substantial damage to the roof and interior ceilings, resulting in ongoing water intrusion and deterioration of the building's interior. Pursuant to Resolution No. 23-509, the City completed the installation of a new metal roof to eliminate the persistent roof leaks. While that work successfully addressed the source of the water intrusion, interior repairs and renovations remain necessary to restore the facility to a functional condition. Several rooms within the facility are currently vacant because their original purposes are no longer operational. Renovating these underutilized spaces will allow the City to repurpose them for current operational needs, improve workflow, and maximize the efficient use of the existing facility. In addition, the restroom facilities require renovation and upgrades to comply with the accessibility requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), thereby ensuring the building is accessible to employees and members of the public. Budget Impact: Funding in the total amount not to exceed $63,454.00 is available for this purpose in Account Number 450-00-000-8512-00-00-000 Project Number PI0014.ENG Recommendation: It is recommended that the City Council approve P.R.No.25039, authorizing the City Manager or his designee to enter into a contract with Sigma Engineers of Beaumont, Texas, for design services related to the second-floor renovation of the Pleasure Island office.
