RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Police Department recommends that the City Council award the purchase and training of
three more Patrol Dogs to Little Rock K-9 Academy in Little Rock, AR for a total of $22,950.00.
The Police Department also recommends that we purchase these three dogs from Little Rock K-
9Academy because the previous dogs we received also came from this establishment. The Little
Rock K-9 Academy guarantees against deficiencies in medical, health, or temperament issues.
By purchasing these dogs from the same trainer, we are assured. the dogs are all trained the
same and will be held to the same standards.
BACKGROUND:
Little Rock K-9 remains to be the lowest priced company from the three vendors before
purchasing the first three dogs. The quotes obtained before buying the first three dogs are as
follows:

BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
Funds for the purchase and training of the three Patrol Dogs is available through account

STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
This purchase and training will enable the Police Department to deploy three more Patrol Dogs
to increase efficiency in the Police Department and promote officer safety.

Apprehe~osion, Aggression Control, Building !Area Searches and Tracking. .
Our Police Service Dog Handler's Course is tentatively "scheduled for late January -early
February 2010.
The cost of obtaining the following Police Service Dogs;
