R. NO. 15698 -AUTHORIZING THE RENEWAL OF A CONTRACT TOT & S LAWN SERVICE FOR GRASS-CUTTING SERVICES OF PRIVATELY-OWNED AND CITY-OWNED VACAN'T' LOTS IN AN AREA OF THE CITY DESIGNATED AS AREA A-2. COMMENT RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council adopt P. R No. 15698, authorizing the City Manager to authorize the renewal of a contract between the Ciry of Port Arthur and T & S Lawn Service, for the contract amount of $ 002 per square foot for mowmg privatelgowned and Citgowned vacant property in Area A 2. Area A 2 is the area of the Caty of Pon Arthur roughly bounded on the East of West Pon Arthur Road, North of 60~ Street includes Montrose, Stonegaze and Lake Arthur. BACKGROUND: On February 24, 2009 the City Council approved Resolution No. 09-058, authorizing execution of a contract with T & S Lawn Service which was the lowest and best bidder to wit for the mowing of vacant lots in Area A-2 for the amount of $.002 per square-foot. This contract was for one-yEar with the Cit}~s option to renew for two (2) additional yEars. This will be the fast extension. The contractor has been providing good service and has met the terms of his contract with the Gty. BUDGET AND REVENUE IMPACT: Adoption of this proposed resolution will not require a budget amendment. Funds are available in Account No. 001-1401-551.59-00. STAFF LEVEL IMPACT: Adoption of this proposed resolution will have no effect on current staffing level. SUMMARY: Staff recommends that the Gty Council adopt P. R No. 15698 thereby authorizing the Caty Manager to execute aone-year extension of a contract with T & S Lawn Service for the mowing of grass on privazely--owned (where owners have failed to maintain the propert}~ and Cityowned vacant property in Area A 2 The contractor will submit proof of insurance. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT: ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions of the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That for the purposes of this Resolution, Area A 2 is that area of the City of Pott Arthur roughly bounded on the East of West Pon Arthur Road, North Of 60~ Sheet includes Montrose, Stonegate and Lake Arthur. Section 3. That forthe purposes of this resolution, a developed lot is defined as a lot orpasel of land which has one or more buildings on it and a vacant lot is defined as a lot or parcel of land with no buildings on it. Section 4. That the City Council deems it in the best interest to renew the contract with T & S LAWN SERVICE for an additional one (1) year period beginning February 24, 201D thru Febmaiy 24, 2011. This is for a one (1) year extension. Section 5. That the contractor shall sign a copy of the resolution agreeing to the terms thereof. 1 P. R. No. 15698 Ol/15/10 JAT Section G.
