BACKGROUND: As per the 2009 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program, the City of Port Arthur Police Department has received $171,332 to upgrade technology through the purchase of technology-related equipment. One Guardian Tracking Unit and battery pack is needed to enhance the ability to investigate criminal offenses that multi-jurisdictional and lengthy criminal enterprise. Multi- agency coordination and interoperability will also be improved. The item is available from a sole vendor.
