COMMENT
j
The City of Port; Arthur received a grant from the Workforce Solutions --
Southeast Texas Boazd in the amount of $ 265,709.97 to address Hurricane Ike
related issues. This grant was used to rent equipment. The City also received
funding to allow NEG (National Emergency Grant) employees to continue
wonting for the program's term.
The City engaged in an extensive program to clear its alley of debris and
overgrowth created or exacerbated by Hurricane Ike. The clean-up program was
a collaborative effort of Public Works, Utility Operations, and the Pazks and
Recreation Departments, speaz-headed by the latter. The program .cleared a
number of alleys prioritized by Utility Billing and citizen identification/request.
