REC011/IMENDATION:
Equipment Services Division recommends that the City Council approve payment of $12,456.50
to Mustang Tractor & Equipment Co for a Caterpillar engine assembly for unit #1526, a 2004
GMC tn.tck used in the day to day collection of residential garbage. The repair cost will be
expensed to fh~e fiscal year 2010 Public Works-Residential Collections Division Equipment
Maintenance account # 403-1272-533.43-00.
BACKGROUND:
The Collections Division notified the garage that the unit was leaking engine coolant. Upon
inspection, we found the engine block leaking. We contacted the Caterpillar Dealer for engine
prices. (This procurement is exempt from the bid process under Texas Local Government Code Section 252.022,
Genernl 13xemptions (7A~, a procurement of items that are available from only one source, including items that
arc availu~ble from one source because of patents, copyrights, secret processes, or natural monopolies.) Thelr
'' estimate: to repair the unit was returned as follows:

BUDGI~T/FISCAL EFFECT:
The repair cost will be expensed to the fiscal year 2010 Public Works-Solid Waste Landfill
Division account #403-1272-533.43-00.
STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
None.
SUMMARY
We recommend that the City of Port Arthur approve payment of $12,456.50 to Mustang Tractor
and Equipment Co. of Beaumont, Texas for replacement engine for Unit #1526 a 2004 GMC
