RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Police Department recommends that the City Council award the use of three (3) TI lines
for the Police radio system to the State of Texas Department of Information Resource
Telecommunication Services Division, State DIR pricing, for the estimated amount of
$10,591.20 per yeaz.
BACKGROUND:
These T1 communication lines provide primary radio connections between the Port Arthur
Police Departrnent Communication Dispatch Center and Jefferson County/Beaumont radios
"Simulcast System". The new radio communication system will provide better radio
coverage and Interoperability county-wide for Port Arthur Police and Fire personnel and all
Regional First Responders. We have three (3) lines at a cost of $294.20 each per month at the
annual cost of $10,591.20 per yeaz.
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Account number 001-1101-521.72-00 will be used for this purchase.
STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
Acceptance of this recommendation should have no effect on staffing levels.
SUMMARY:
The Police Department recommends that the City Council awazd the use of three (3) Tl lines
for the Police radio system to the State of Texas Department of Information. Resource
Telecommunication Services Division for the estimated amount of $10,591.20 per year.
