Attached is P. R. 15825 authorizing payment to the Jefferson County Sheriffs Office in
the amount of $87,631.39 for eighty-six (86) abandoned lots that were also delinquent in
taxes. These lots were purchased at the March 2 and April 6, 2010 tax sale.
Additionally, tax sales will be held on May 4 and June 1, 2010. At those sales, we hope
to purchase 178 abandoned lots. Therefore, we are asking that the Council authorize
bids not to exceed $275,000. As a result of an Interlocal Agreement between all the
taxing entities, the costs may be significantly decreased at a resale.
Monies are available in Account No.129-'1435-554.81-00, Project No. NSP005.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AIITHORIZING PAYMENT UNDER THE
NEIGHBORHOOD STABILIZATION PROGRAM TO THE'
JEFFERSON COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE. FOR. PROPERTIES
ACQUIRED AT THE JEFFERSON COUNTY DELINQIIENT TAX
SALE (ACCOIINT NO. 129-1435-554.81-00, PROJECT
NO. NSP005)
WHEREAS, the City was authorized to purchase abandoned/tax
R foreclosed properties under the Neighborhood Stabilization. Program;
and
WHEREAS, on March 2, 2010, the City purchased 70 abandoned
lots, as delineated in the list attached hereto as Exhibit "A", at
a delinquent tax sale, conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Office; and
WHEREAS, on April 6, 2010, the City purchased 16 abandoned
lots, as delineated in the list attached. hereto as Exhibit "B", at
a delinquent tax sale, conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff's
Office; and
WHEREAS, the City, under the Neighborhood Stabilization
Program, Housing and Neighborhood. Revitalization. Department, is
herein authorized to pay EIGHTY -SEVEN THOUSAND, SIX HUNDRED THIRTY
ONE DOLLARS AND THIRTY NINE CENTS ($87,631..39) to the Jefferson
County Sheriff's Office for the purchase of the eighty six (86)
abandoned lots; and
WHEREAS, on May 4, 2010, the City- will seek to purchase
approximately 80 abandoned/tax foreclosed properties in an amount

not to exceed $125,.000, as delineated in the list attached hereto as
Exhibit "C"; and
WHEREAS, on June 1, 2010, •the City will seek to purchase
approximately- 98 abandoned/tax foreclosed properties in an amount
not to exceed $150,000, as delineated in the list attached hereto as
Exhibit "D"
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are
true and correct.
Section 2. That payment is herein authorized to the.
Jefferson County Sheriff's Office, in the amount of $87,631.39, for
the purchase of eighty six (86) abandoned/tax foreclosed properties,
as delineated in the list attached hereto as Exhibits "A" and "B",
at the delinquent tax sale, conducted on March 2 and April 6, 2010,
by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
Section 3. That on May 4 and June 1, 2010, the City will
seek to purchase approximately 178 abandoned/tax foreclosed
properties in an amount not to exceed $275,000, as delineated in the
list attached hereto as Exhibits "C^ and "D"
Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be
spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
