AN ORDINANCE ADDING SUB- SECTION (G) TO
ARTICLE II, SECTION 31 OF THE CODE OF
ORDINANCES ,
WHEREAS, Article II, Section 31 of the Code of Ordinances
sets forth the requirements for placing items on the agenda;
and,
WHEREAS, the City Council desires additional guidelines for
placement of items on the agenda for reconsideration.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble
are true and correct.
Section 2. That Article 2, Section 31 is amended by
adding Subsection (g) as follows:
(g). Reconsideration of an agenda item takes places
upon a request to bring back for further consideration
a matter previously decided by the City Council. If a
majority of the City Council votes to approve or deny
an agenda item, it can only be brought back for
reconsideration after a period of three months, unless
requested by a member of the prevailing side or at the
request of three Council members.

Section 3. That this being an Ordinance amending an
Ordinance which does not carry a penalty, and does not require
publication shall take effect immediately from and after its
passage.
Section 4. That this Ordinance shall become effective
immediately after the date of publication.
Section 5. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance
be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of
A.D., 2010, at a Council Meeting of the City Council of the City
of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
