DATE: November 24, 2004 FROM: Ernestine Wade, RN, Director~,(,,,t/J SUBJECT: Proposed Resolution No. 12929 Approval of a Letter of Agreement between the City of Port Arthur and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas COMMENTS FOR * REQUESTED BY: Emeetine Wade, RN, Director ADMINISTRATION * PURPOSE EXPRESSED BY REQUESTOR: · Approval of a Letter of Agreement USE * between the City of Port Arthur and the Alcohol and · Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas ONLY * · LOCATION: N/A RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 12929 approving a Letter of Agreement between the City of Port Arthur and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East BACKGROUND: This is a new agreement. The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council (ADAC) agrees to provide prevention literature, access to the inventory of Book & Video Prevention Lending Library, and participate in the city's health fairs and conferences. The City agrees to notify the ADAC of health fairs, conferences, etc. that relate to prevention. In addition, the City agrees to disseminate/display prevention material by the ADAC and participate and give input on the evaluation of ADAC services. This is a non-binding, non-financial Letter of Agreement. STAFFING/EMPLOYEE EFFECT: There will be no effect on staffing. BUDGETARY EFFECT: The City's budget will not be affected, SUMMARY: It is recommended that City Council approve P.R. No. 12929, which is a Letter of Agreement between the City of Port Arthur and the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas. Port Arthur Health Department P.R. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF A LETTER OF AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND THE ALCOHOL AND DRUG ABUSE COUNCIL OF DEEP EAST TEXAS WHEREAS, the Alcohol and Drug Abuse Council of Deep East Texas' Region 5 Prevention Resource Center wishes to coordinate services with the City of Port Arthur to provide prevention literature and participate in health fairs and conferences; and, WHEREAS, this is a non-binding, non-financial Letter of Agreement; now therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT the City Manager and Director of Health are hereby authorized to execute said Letter of Agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit, "A"; and, THAT said Letter of Agreement is an exact duplicate of a City Standard Form Contract except for the changes described in the Certificate of Standard Form Contract, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "B" and is hereby incorporated by reference, and said changes are hereby approved; THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
