RECOMMENDATION:
It is recommended that the City Council authorize the rollover of the existing contract between the City of
Port Arthur and AMERICAN WASTE SERVICES, INC., as the lowest responsible bidder, for the purpose
of furnishing chemical toilets to be placed on various City Parks and at special events throughout the year.
The estimated annual not to exceed cost is $13,000.00 for the 2005-2006 contract year. Services have been
provided in a satisfactory manner in the 2004-2005 contract year; therefore, rollover of the existing
contract is recommended.
BACKGROUND:
The Parks & Recreation Department will place Chemical toilets on various City parks and locations and at
special events (e.g., Class Reunions, Football League games, Juneteenth, Sottball League games, festivals,
etc.) throughout the year at a not to exceed cost of $13,000.00 for the 2005/2006 contract year. On March
4, 2003 the City Council awarded the bid for chemical toilets to American Waste Services, Inc. The bid had
an option to renew for two years. The staff recommends that the Council exercise the first year renewal
option and rollover the current bid for the contract year 2005-2006.
BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT:
Estimate annual cost not to exceed $13,000. The funds are budgeted and available in account 001-1402-
551.51-00.
EMPLOYEE/STAFF EFFECT:
None.
SUMMARY:
