ROLL CALL, t'NVOCATTON & PLEDGE The City Council of the City of Port Arthur met in a Special Meeting on Tuesday, January 25, 2005 at 3:07 p.m. in the City Council Chamber, City Hall, with the following members present: Hayor Oscar G. Ortiz; Mayor Pro Tem .]ohn Beard, Jr.; Councilmembers Craig Hannah, Felix A. Barker, Thomas _1. Henderson, Martin Flood, Ronnie Thompson, Deloris "Bobble" Prince and Michael "Shane" Sinegal; City Manager Steve Fitzgibbons; City Secretary Evangeline "Van" Green and City Attorney Mark T. Sokolow. I'!'i' *CLOSED t4EET1'NG (EXECUT1'VE SESS1'ON) Closed Meetine: Section 551.071 Government Code - To Discuss With The City Attorney Pending Litigation Between The City Of Port Arthur And Bill Diamond. The City Council recessed their meeting at 3:08 p.m. to meet in Executive Session to consider the above-mentioned topic, and reconvened their meeting at 4:08 p.m. with the following members present: Mayor Ortiz; Mayor Pro Tem Beard; Councilmembers Hannah, Henderson, Flood, Thompson, Prince and Sinegal; City Secretary Green and City Attorney Sokolow. Councilmember Barker returned at 4:09 p.m. City Manager Fitzgibbons returned at 4:10 p.m. 1'1'. 1'TEH RE(~U1'R1'NG 1'NDZVZDUAL ACT1'ON P.R. No. 13010 - A Resolution As 1't Pertains To The Board of Directors Of The City Of Port Arthur Section 4A Economic Development Corporation And Position I (Requested By Mayor Pro Tem Beard) The Mayor introduced the above-mentioned Proposed Resolution. The motion was made by Mayor Pro Tern Beard and seconded by Councilmember Thompson that Proposed Resolution No. 13010 be adopted Hrs. Deborah Khala]abadi, 2620 Gulfway Drive, appeared before the City Council to discuss her removal as Chairperson of the Economic Development Corporation Board of Directors. Councilmember Flood made the following statement for the record: One other statement Yd like to maKe for the record and for the public, Mrs. Khalajabadi you have probably been one of the most honest people ! have ever met. I can say that T have even met Pastors that is not even as honest as you are. Ethically, morally, you have an awesome spiritual connection with just wanting to do the right thing. Anc~ for someone wanting to remove an honest ~erson from a position, it is beyond my imagination. ! can't even magine. Why would you want to remove someone? Who...you want honesty on the board. And you tell them you want to remove this person because maybe your too honest, if there's such a thing. I just can't...:[ don't understand. So I just want to let you know that, I feel that you have not and ! know that you have not done anything wrong. ! support you n your effort. I think you have done an awesome job. I hope you continue to contribute to Port Arthur, to the citizens ano through the projects that we nave in the City of Port Arthur. And anything that ! can oo as a Councilman, feel free to give me a call.
