PAGE 1 ofl RECOM3{ENDATION We recommend that the City Council approve the purchase of a Radio Telemetry System for the Sea Rim Pump Stat/on and Ground Storage Tank from BLOC Design Build, LLC of Longview, Texas in the amount of $7,686.00. BACKGROUND The Sea Rim Pump Station and GST is currently the last such ~vater installation without a radio telemetry system to report its status back to the Water Purification Plant. Over the last few years, we have been upgrading our City-wide radio telemetry system to include as many remote sites as we can afibrd within our operating budgets, while proceeding in pnor/ty order. Data Flow Systems manufacturers the remote telemetry system we currently utilize. BLOC Design Build, LLC is the exclusive Value Added Reseller (VAR) in Texas. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT ha December 2004, the City Council rejected a pr/ce of $13,856.10 for this equipment. Since then, we met with the vendor, modified our specifications, and propose to have much of the installation performed by City forces instead of this out-of-town vendor. The current price is slightly over the budgeted mount of $7,000, which was based on previous unit prices for this same type equipment (but in a much larger overall project proposal). This small ovcm-un is offset by savings akeady realized this budget year. O&M account # 410-1253-532.92-00. SUMMARY We recommend that the City Council approve the purchase of a Radio Telemetry System for the Sea Rim Pump Station and Ground Storage Tank from BLOC Design Build, LLC of Longview, Texas in the amount of $7,686.00.
