This proposed ordinance increases the Equipment Replacement Budget by $124,000 to fund the City match on the Homeland Security Grant to purchase an aerial truck. BACKGROUND On March 15, 2005, the City Council approved the 2004 Firefighters Grant to purchase an aerial ladder truck. This grant of $580,488 requires matching funds from the City of $123,780. Motiva has also contributed $100,000 to this purchase, and Exxon Mobil $25,000. This budget amendment provides the City's share o£ funding. P. O. NO. 5508 JJA: 3/17/05 ORDINANCE NO. AN APPROPRIATION ORDINANCE AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR THE FISCAL YEAR BEGINNING OCTOBER 1, 2004 AND ENDING SEPTEMBER 30, 2005 WHEREAS in accordance with Article XII, Section 9, of the City Charter, the City Council may make emergency appropriations from time to time; and WHEREAS the City Council may make budget amendments for emergencies under Section 102.009 and for Municipal purposes under Section 102.010 Local Government Code. WHEREAS on September 14, 2004 the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 04-53 which appropriated the 2004-2005 budget; and WHEREAS on November 9, 2004, the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 04-72 which amended Ordinance 04-53; and WHEREAS on December 14, 2004, the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 04-78 which amended Ordinance 04-53; and WHEREAS on January 15, 2005, the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 05-06 which amended Ordinance 04-53; and WHEREAS on March 1, 2005, the City Council approved and adopted Ordinance 05-17 which amended Ordinance 04-53; and WHEREAS, there have been unanticipated cost increases in the Equipment Replacement Fund. WHEREAS, these amendments are necessary for municipal purposes to meet unusual and unforeseen emergency conditions as delineated in Section 102.009 (c) Local Government Code. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR Section 1. That the budget for the Equipment Replacement Fund be increased by $124,000 to fund the City's match on the Firefighters Grant to purchase an aerial ladder truck. Section 2. That Section 8 of the Budget Ordinance 04-053 be amended to read: That there be and is hereby appropriated the sum of One Million, Five Hundred Eighty Thousand, One Hundred Eighteen Dollars ($1,580,118) to the Equipment Replacement Fund for the payment of the following purposes: Capital Outlay $1,243,184 Debt Service 336,934 Total $1.580.118 Section 3. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the minutes of the City Council. Section 4. That this Ordinance shall be effective inunediately.
