Re: Requesting funds for Downtown Renaissance District Board project
The Downtown Renaissance District Board is petitioning that the Council
request funding from the Port Arthur Economic Development Corporation for
"Procter Street Project ", on the DRDB's behalf. The project will be between
Houston Avenue and Lake Charles Avenue in the long range plan (over the next
5 -6 years), but, in the short range plan (1- 2 years) the group desires to begin
between Shreveport and Fort Worth Avenue.
The grant funds will be in the amount of $250,000; it will be used for
streetscapes and some pavement work as suggested by the LaBiche
Architectural Group, Incorporated. The schematics and quotes are attached.
The schematics cover 20 blocks, but the initial start is with our festival areas as
mentioned above. The preliminary schematics are being edited to be more
accurate and factual for the EDC Board meeting September 5, 2011.
Respectively Submitted

Mark E. Viator, Chairman, Downtown Renaissance District
