A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AGREEMENT WITH THE MERCER GROUP, INC. AS IT PERTAINS TO THE SEARCH FOR THE CITY MANAGER POSITION WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur City Manager position will become vacant on or about January 15, 2012 absent extension action by the City Council; and, WHEREAS, pursuant to the Charter of the City of Port Arthur the City Manager shall serve as the chief administrative and executive officer of the City; and, WHEREAS, said office is critical to the efficient and effective provision of services to the citizens of Port Arthur through municipal operations; and, WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur desires to contract with The Mercer Group, Inc. to engage in an professional executive search to fill this position approximate to the time of the anticipated vacancy; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS: Section 1: That the facts and opinions of the preamble are true and correct. P. R. No. 16718 10/11/11 att P.2 Section 2: That the Mayor is hereby authorized to execute a contract with The Mercer Group, Inc. on behalf of the City of Port Arthur for the professional executive search for the position of City Manager which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A" and shall include the deliverables delineated in the Scope of Work included therewith and the cost thereof shall not exceed the amount of $19,500. Section 3. That the point of contact for said contract shall be Department of Human Resources. Section 4. That a copy of the caption of the Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
