TO COMPLETE THE IH -10 CORRIDOR IN ORANGE COUNTY
Dear Madam Chair:
Please find attached a resolution adopted by the City of Port Arthur urging the Texas Transportation
Commission to provide the funding required to complete the reconstruction of the IH -10 Corridor in
Orange County.
The IH -10 Orange County Corridor is a regional priority, and as such the South East Texas Regional
Planning Commission — Metropolitan Planning Organization (SETRPC -MPO) and the TxDOT- Beaumont
District, with the support of the City of Port Arthur, have continually worked together to move projects
on the IH -10 Corridor forward by allocating the region's $32 million of the American Recovery and
Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds; the $44.849 million of the TxDOT- Beaumont District
Rehabilitation /Safety Proposition 12 funds; $5.304 million of the SETRPC -MPO Proposition 12 funds;
and all Category 2 funds through year 2021 for reconstruction and improving the entire 26 -mile IH -10
facility in Orange County from the Neches River to the Sabine River. However, even with this
combination of funding, two miles of the IH -10 Corridor in Orange County will remain as originally
constructed.
In light of this, the City of Port Arthur respectfully requests the Texas Transportation Commission to
allocate the necessary funds to complete the IH -10 Corridor reconstruction in Orange County to the
Sabine River.
If any questions arise concerning this request, please feel free to contact me at 409 - 983 -8105.
Yours truly,
Deloris "Bobbie" Prince, Mayor
