Video Recorders for the Police Department.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Police Department recommends that the City Council purchase 19 DP3 Mobile Digital
Video Recorders from Digital Safety Technologies, for a total amount of $104,006.00.
BACKGROUND:
The Police Department wishes to purchase 19 DP3 Mobile Digital Video Recorders from Digital
Safety Technologies for the purpose of documenting and recording patrol procedures as
mandated by State law and the Department of Homeland Security. The Police Department uses
the DST software and server for these systems thus; DST is the sole source for this type of
equipment. No other camera will work with this software.
This procurement is exempt from the bid process under Texas Local Government Code Section
252.022, General Exemptions (7A), a procurement of items that are available from only one
source, including items that are available from source because of patents, copyrights, secret
processes, or natural monopolies.
