Comeaux, P.E., Acting City Manager and City Council FROM: Colleen Russell, Transit Director DATE: June 1, 2012 RE: Proposed Resolution No. 17112 BACKGROUND: The Transit renovation process will begin again in July 2012. The work was originally estimated to be completed in six (6) months to cover delivery and any additional requirements that may occur during the job, including inclement weather conditions; however, due to unforeseen delays it is necessary to extend the contract for design and oversight of the Transit Complex. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT Funding is available in account 402 - 1508 - 561.54 -00 Professional Services Grant TX96 -X040. STAFFING EFFECT NONE. SUMMARY The Transit department request that City Council approve P.R. 17112 authorizing the extension of the contract for design and oversight of the Transit Department Complex. P.R. NO.17112 06/01/2012 CWR RESOLUTION NO. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A TEN MONTH EXTENSION TO THE EXISTING CONTRACT WITH NELSON COLLABORATIVE, HOUSTON TEXAS, FOR DESIGN AND OVERSIGHT OF THE TRANSIT DEPARTMENT RENOVATION PROJECT. WHEREAS, the City desires to extend the contract for design and oversight of the Transit Department Complex for another ten month period; and WHEREAS, the existing annual contract amount is not to exceed $ 72,000 and; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council hereby approves extending the renovation project ten months. (EXHIBIT "A ") shows the new schedule for Nelson Collaborative aka NP2MG of Houston , Texas. Section 3. That the contract price shall not exceed $72,000; and, Section 4. That a duly authorized technical representative of the company shall sign this resolution agreeing to the terms hereof for the extension . Section 5. That a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. P.R.
