Blackketter, P.E., Director of Public Works DATE: October 9, 2012 SUBJECT: P.R.17336 — Purchase of a Vactor from Kinloch Equipment & Supply, Inc. COMMENTS RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that City Council approve the purchase one (1) Vactor truck from Kinloch Equipment & Supply, Inc. of Pasadena, Texas through Buy Board in the amount of $249,904. BACKGROUND: This unit will replace an existing unit ( #1929) in the Public Works Drainage Division. This truck will be used to allow for the proper maintenance of the many miles of the City's stormwater system. Kinloch Equipment & Supply, Inc. of Pasadena, Texas will provide this equipment through Buy Board pricing. Purchase of this item was approved in the FY 2012 -2013 budget. BUDGETARY /FISCAL EFFECT: Funds are provided in account no. 625 - 1801 - 531.93 -04 EMPLOYEE /STAFF EFFECT: None. OF PASADENA, TEXAS THROUGH BUY BOARD IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $249,904. FUNDS ARE AVAILABLE IN ACCOUNT NO. 625-1801-531.93-04. WHEREAS, the Public Works Department Drainage Division routinely uses Vactor trucks to maintain the City's stormwater system throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, in order to adequately perform the work required by the Drainage Division, Kinloch Equipment & Supply, Inc. of Pasadena, Texas provided Buy Board pricing for this unit in the amount of $249,904; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, THAT, the City Council authorizes the purchase of one (1) Vactor truck from Kinlcoh Equipment & Supply, Inc. of Pasadena, Texas, Exhibit "A ", in the not to exceed amount of $249,904; and, THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council. We hold contract number 347 -10. The PO for the entire purchase needs to be made out to Freightliner of Austin, as they hold the Buy Board contract for the chassis. Currently delivery is approximately 210 days, however that has been improving dramatically lately, so hopefully by the time you get this ordered it could be down to180 days. Proposal Date: 9/26/2012
