CONTRACT (GROUP C) WITH LARK GROUP, INC. ADDING A GARAGE
APARTMENT, IN THE AMOUNT OF $2,500.00
COMMENT
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council adopt P. R. No. 17354
approving Change Order No. 1 to the 5/29/12 (Group C) contract with Lark Group, Inc. Change
Order No. 1 adds the garage apartment located at 2808 Rev. Ransom Howard Street, increasing the
contract amount by $2,500.00.
BACKGROUND: On May 29, 2012, City Council approved Resolution No. 12 -240 awarding the
contract for Group C to Lark Group, Inc. in the amount of $18,900.00, for the demolition of six (6)
dangerous residential properties. On July 2, 2012, we requested a quote from Lark Group, Inc. to
add the garage apartment at 2808 Rev. Ransom Howard Street to their project. They quoted us a
price of $2,500.00. This would bring the contract to a new total of $21,400.00.
BUDGET AND REVENUE IMPACT: Acceptance of this recommendation will not require a
budget amendment. Funding is available in Account No. 105 - 1431 - 552.59 -00; Project No. C36120
(CDBG).
STAFF LEVEL IMPACT: Acceptance of this recommendation will have no effect on current
staffing level.
SUMMARY: Staff recommends that the City Council adopt P. R. No. 17354, thereby approving
Change Order No. 1 to the 5/29/12 (Group C) contract with Lark Group, Inc. in the amount of
$16,700.00.

APARTMENT LOCATED AT 2808 REV. RANSOM
HOWARD STREET , INCREASING THE CONTRACT
AMOUNT BY $2,500 TO A NEW TOTAL OF $21,400;

WHEREAS, on May 29, 2012, City Council approved Resolution No. 12 -240 awarding the contract for

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS:
THAT, the City Council hereby approves Change Order No. 1 to the May 29, 2012 (Group C) contract
with Lark Group, Inc increasing the contract amount by $2,500 to a new total of $21,400, attached hereto as
Exhibit `B ".
THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this the 30th day of October, A.D., 2012, at a Regular
