RECOMMENDATIONS:
The Purchasing Division recommends that the City Council award the bid for the
construction of Iron Rod and Masonry Fence for City Hall and Transit Parking Lots to Pick
Two Contractors, Inc., of Port Arthur, Texas in the amount of $117,449.
BACKGROUND:
Because of damages from Hurricane Rita, the parking lot masonry fences at City Hall and the
Transit parking lots require replacement and demolition because the remaining wall is
unstable. The Purchasing Division advertised in the Port Arthur News April 9 and April 16,
2006. Bid packets were mailed out to seven (7) contractors and bids were opened on April
26, 2006 with the following responses:
Vendor Bid
Pick Two Contractors, Inc., Port Arthur, Texas $117,449
Lange Brothers, Inc., Port Arthur, Texas $176,492
BUDGET/FISCAL IMPACT:
Account number 123-2300-901.89 HRCITY will be used for City Hall Parking Lot at a cost
of$55,116. Account number 123-2300-901.89 HRTSC will be sued for Transit Parking Lot
at a cost of $62,333. This expense may be recoverable, in part, from Fema. The Finance
Department will seek reimbursement.
STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT:
Acceptance of this recommendation should have no effect on staffing levels.
SUMMARY:
The Purchasing Division recommends that the City Council award the bid for the
construction of Iron Rod and Masonry Fence for City Hall and Transit Parking Lots to Pick
Two Contractors, Inc., of Port Arthur, Texas in the amount orS117,449.
