Home My WebLink AboutPR 13566: ALLCO, LTD MEMORANDUM CITY OF PORT ARTHUR UTILITY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT TO: Stephen Fitzgibbons, City Manager FROM: Kelly Eldridge, Director of Utility Operations DATE: May 17, 2006 SUBJECT: Proposed Resolution No. 13566 COMMENTS RECOMMENDATION I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 13566 authorizing the execution of Change Order No. Six to the contract between the City and ALLCO, Ltd., related to the Wastewater Rehabilitation Project. This change order increases the total contract amount by $6,241.00 to $9,827,081.86, and does not increase contract time. BACKGROUND In February 2004, the City Council awarded a construction contract to ALLCO, Ltd. for the Wastewater Rehabilitation Project, Pioneer Park and Griffing Park areas. This project is part of Phase I of the City's wastewater system improvements program. It includes the replacement of 25+ miles of the City's sewer lines identified in the Sanitary Sewer Evaluation Survey. Change Order No. Six amends the contract bid items to add certain required improvements to the two lift stations constructed in Griffing Park. In particular, our consulting engineer made these improvements for better access, including wider gates, additional concrete slab and fence, and limestone drives. We will forward this change order to the TWDB upon execution and anticipate their approval. BUDGET/FISCAL EFFECT Change Order No. Six increases the contract amount by $6,241.00 to $9,827,081.86. STAFF/EMPLOYEE EFFECT No anticipated effect on staffing. City staff will continue to monitor the progress of this project. SIX TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND ALLCO, LTD, RELATED TO THE WASTEWATER REHABILITATION PROJECT. (INCREASES THE CONTRACT AMOUNT BY $6,241.00) ACCOUNT NO. 426-1625-532.83-00, PROJECT NO. 426ALL. WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur has awarded the contract for the Pioneer Park Area and Griffing Park Area Wastewater Rehabilitation Project to ALLCO, Ltd., in Resolution No.04-038; and, WHEREAS, Bob Shaw Consulting Engineers, Inc., as Owner's representative, has prepared, reviewed, and recommends approval of Change Order No. Six, copy attached hereto and made a pan hereof as Exhibit "A", for additional work not included in original project bid; increasing contract amount by $6,241.00; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the City Manager be authorized to execute Change Order No. Six (Exhibit A) to the referenced contract, for a change in the scope of the work in the total amount of ($6,241.00); and, THAT the total contract amount to be adjusted will be from Nine Million Seven Hundred Eight Hundred Twenty Thousand Eight Hundred Forty and 86/100 Dollars ($9,820,840.86) to Nine Million Eight Hundred Twenty-seven Thousand Eighty-one and 86/100 Dollars ($9,827,081.86); and, THAT the contract time will not be increased by this Change Order; and, THAT no other conditions or covenants of the contract are changed or waived by this Change Order; and, THAT a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
