Construction and Sons, !nc. for repair of the roof of the Electrical Building for an amount not to exceed $32,989. BACKGROUND: The Electrical Building roof was damaged as a result of Hurricane Rita. The City advertised for contractors in the Port Arthur News on April 30 and May 7, 2006. Seven bids were received and opened on May :LO. The bid from W.B. Construction and Sons, !nc. in the amount of $32,989 was reviewed by Public Works and Purchasing and is found to be the lowest and most responsible bid for this work. BUDGETARY/FZSCAL EFFECT: Funding is available in Project HRELEC, 123-2300-901.59-00. EMPLOYEE/STAFF EFFECT: None. SUMMARY: I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 13578, approving a contract with W.B. WHEREAS, the Electrical Building suffered damage to the roof as a result of Hurricane Rita; and, WHEREAS, the City advertised in the Port Arthur News on April 30, 2006 and on May 7, 2006 for repair of this roof; and, WHEREAS, seven (7) bids were received and opened on May 10, 2006 for the above referenced project as shown on the Bid Tabulation attached hereto as Exhibit "A"; and, WHEREAS, W.B. Construction and Sons, Inc. of Beaumont, Texas submitted the lowest and most responsible bid in the amount of $32,989; now, therefore, BE ZT RESOLVED BY THE CTTY COUNCZL OF THE CTrY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, THAT, the proposal from W.B. Construction and Sons, Inc. for repair of the roof of the Electrical Building, in an amount not to exceed $32,989, Project HRELEC 123- 2300-901.59-00, a copy of said proposal being attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "B", is hereby approved; and, THAT, payment will not be made until all work is complete and approved by the Public Works Department; and, P.R. 13578 Page 2 THAT, a designated representative of W.B.
