District Funding Allocation
RECOMMENDATION:
Presented for City Council consideration and approval for payment is the City's pro -rata share
of the 2013 Orange County Appraisal District Budget. For 2013, four equal payments of
$4,151.60 will be made, for a total of $16,606.44.
BACKGROUND:
Section 6.06 of the Texas Property Tax Code requires each taxing unit participating in the
Appraisal District to share in the budget equal to the proportion of the total dollar amount of
property taxes imposed in the district by the unit. The Orange County Appraisal District 2013
budget is $1,460,395 the city's pro -rata share is $16,606.44. This represents 0.99% of the
Appraisal District's budget. The City's share of the budget is based on the City's 2012 tax
levy which was $1,186,614 divided by the total tax levy of all the entities, $104,352,533.

This item was included in the 2012 -2013 Proposed Operating Budget, of the Finance Dept.
professional services, account no. 001 -1031- 515.54.00 in the amount of $15,000..

SUMMARY:
Pursuant to Section 6.06 of the Texas Property Tax Code, the City of Port Arthur will make
quarterly payments totaling the amount of $ 16,606.44 for the Orange County Appraisal
District, 2012 -2013 budget.
