RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 17474, approving
the purchase of a 1 /2 ton pickup truck from Philpott Motors of Nederland, Texas in the
amount of $16,109.
BACKGROUND:
The purchase of a 1 /2 ton pickup for the Solid Waste Division was approved under the
current budget. This purchase is to replace unit #1340, a 1999 model Dodge pickup.
Purchasing requested quotes from six (6) vendors, two of which are from Port Arthur.
The following two (2) quotes for this item were received:
Philpott Motors 2013 Ford F -150 $ 16,109
Dallas Dodge - Chrysler -Jeep 2013 Dodge 1500 $ 17,221
BUDGETARY /FISCAL EFFECT:
Funding is available in account 625 - 1801 - 533.93 -00.
EMPLOYEE /STAFF EFFECT:
None
SUMMARY
I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 17474, approving
the purchase of a 1 /2 ton pickup truck from Philpott Motors of Nederland, Texas in the
amount of $16,109.

RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF A 1 /2 TON
PICKUP TRUCK FOR THE SOLID WASTE DIVISION FROM
PHILPOTT MOTORS OF NEDERLAND, TEXAS IN THE AMOUNT OF
$16,109, ACCOUNT 625 -1801- 533.93 -00.
WHEREAS, in Ordinance 12 -57, the City Council approved the budget for Fiscal
Year 2012 -2013 and authorized the purchase of a 1 /2 ton pickup truck for the Solid
Waste Division; and,
WHEREAS, Purchasing requested quotes from six (6) different vendors, two of
which were from Port Arthur, and received two (2) quotes with the low quote being
from Philpott Motors of Nederland, Texas for a 2013 Ford F -150 truck for a cost of
$16,109 (shown in Exhibit "Al; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT
ARTHUR:
THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and,
THAT, purchase of this vehicle from Philpott Motors in the amount of $16,109 is
hereby approved, funding being available in account 625 - 1801 - 533.93 -00; and,
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of
the City Council.
