E. of Garland, Texas for consulting services in conjunction with the City of Port Arthur's Insurance Service Office (ISO) rating. BACKGROUND ISO collects information on municipal fire- protection efforts in communities throughout the United States. In each of these communities, ISO analyzes the relevant data using their Fire Suppression Rating Schedule (FSRS). They then assign a Public Protection Classification from 1 to 10. Class 1 generally represents superior property fire protection, and Class 10 indicates that the area's fire- suppression program doesn't meet ISO's minimum criteria. Some of the areas evaluated include the Fire Department response capability, Water Infrastructure (fire flow), and Dispatch capability. ISO has extensive information on more than 47,000 fire- response jurisdictions. Port Arthur's last ISO survey was conducted in 1999. Port Arthur currently has a Class 3 Public Protection Classification. Mike Pietsch has over 27 years experience rating communities under the ISO Fire Suppression Rating Schedule. Mike Pietsch conducted a Fire Station Location Study for the City of Port Arthur in 2006. BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT Funds were available in the FY 2012 -2013 budget in account #001 - 1121 - 522.54 -00.
