Blackketter, P.E., Director of Public Works SUBJECT: P.R. #17658 — Purchase of Commercial Garbage Truck DATE: 22 April 2013 RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 17658, approving the purchase of a commercial container garbage truck from Heil of Texas of Houston, Texas and Grande Truck Center of San Antonio, Texas through BuyBoard in the amount of $252,834. BACKGROUND: In order to maintain commercial garbage collection service, Purchasing obtained quotes via BuyBoard for the following equipment item: Grande Truck Center 2013 Mack LEU613 chassis $ 134,822 Heil of Texas Heil 28 CY front Toad packer body $ 118,012 Total $ 252,834 BUDGETARY /FISCAL EFFECT: Funding is available in account 625- 1801 - 533.93 -00. WHEREAS, in Resolution 02 -341, the City of Port Arthur entered into an interlocal agreement for cooperative purchasing with the BuyBoard Cooperative Purchasing Program; and, WHEREAS, in order to maintain commercial garbage collection service, Purchasing obtained quotes via BuyBoard for a commercial container garbage truck from Heil of Texas of Houston, Texas for a Heil 28 cubic yard Front Loader body in the amount of $118,012 with a 2013 Mack LEU613 truck chassis from Grande Truck Center of San Antonio, Texas in the amount of $134,822 for a total cost of $252,834 (shown in Exhibit "A "); now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, THAT, purchase of this vehicle via BuyBoard in the amount of $252,834 is hereby approved, funding being available in account 625 -1801- 533.93 -00; and, THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
