No. 17767; Council Meeting July 9, 2013 RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council authorize the City Manager to make application and receive funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance (JAG) Grant from the Department of Justice in the amount of $32,567. BACKGROUND: The City of Port Arthur has been awarded funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Grant (JAG) Program for the past seven (7) years. This funding has been used to upgrade technology through the purchase of computer hardware, software and other technology - related equipment. BUDGETARY /FISCAL EFFECT: None. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO MAKE APPLICATION AND RECEIVE FUNDING THROUGH THE 2013 EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM IN THE AMOUNT OF $32,567. WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has been awarded funding through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program for the past seven years; and WHEREAS, the funding has been used to upgrade technology through the purchase of computer hardware, software and other technology related equipment. NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2. That the City Council of the City of Port Arthur authorizes the City Manager to make application and receive funding through the 2013 Edward Byre Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program in the amount of $32,567. Section 3.
