A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO
CONSIDER REMOVING FIXED ROUTE SERVICES IN THE
PORT ACRES, EL VISTA, AND PALOMAR AREAS AND
IMPLEMENTING AND REPLACING THIS SERVICE WITH
A CALL IN SERVICE
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration, small urban areas with 50,000
persons or more that operates a transit system, require a public hearing to consider service
reduction; and
WHEREAS, per Resolution 13 -327, the City Council adopted the Public Hearing
Procedures; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing is requested on October 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss the
reduction of Port Arthur Transit Fixed Route services in the Port Acres, El Vista, and Palomar
areas and obtain views of citizens on the proposed reduction in service; and
WHEREAS, Exhibit "A" reflects the service routes and passenger counts per month,
which confirms that this is not the best use of time, staff or resources.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
THAT, a public hearing to consider removing fixed route services in the Port Acres, El
Vista and Palomar areas and implementing and replacing this service with a call in service, shall
be held on October 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Fifth floor, City Hall,
444 Fourth Street, Port Arthur, Texas.
THAT, The City Secretary shall cause notice to be published in Port Arthur News at least 1
thirty (30) days prior to the hearing date.
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.
READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED this day of September, A.D., 2013, at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of the City of Port Arthur, Texas, by the following vote:
