RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION CALLING FOR A PUBLIC HEARING TO
CONSIDER MAKING THE TRANSIT DEPARTMENT'S
PILOT PROGRAM OF EARLY SERVICE AT CENTRAL
MALL PERMANENT
WHEREAS, pursuant to the Federal Transit Administration, small urban areas with
50,000 persons or more that operates a transit system, require a public hearing to consider
service reduction; and
WHEREAS, per Resolution No. 13 -327, the City Council adopted the Public Hearing
Procedures; and
WHEREAS, the Port Arthur Transit is requesting that its 6:30 a.m. Mall run, which gets
passengers to work by 8:00 a.m. or earlier and reduces overcrowding and standing room only on
the 7:00 a.m. run, become permanent; and
WHEREAS, a public hearing is requested on October 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. to discuss
approving fixed service permanency of the mall route at 6:30 a.m., changing the Pilot Program to
an approved route.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF PORT ARTHUR:
THAT, a public hearing to consider making the 6:30 a.m. Mall Route permanent shall be
held on October 15, 2013 at 6:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, Fifth floor, City Hall, 444
Fourth Street, Port Arthur, Texas.
THAT, the City Secretary shall cause notice to be published in the Port Arthur News at
least 30 days prior to the hearing date.
THAT, a copy of the caption of this Resolution be spread upon the Minutes of the City
Council.
READ, ADOPTED, AND APPROVED this day of September, A.D., 2013, at a
Regular Meeting of the City Council of Port Arthur, Texas by the following majority vote:
