Johnson, City Manager From: Lawrence Baker, Director of Inspections & Code Enforcement Date: November 21, 2013 Re: P. R. NO. 18072 — REJECTING THE BIDS FOR DEMOLITION OF SIX (6) DANGEROUS RESIDENTIAL STRUCTURES (GROUP C -t), AND AUTHORIZING THE SOLICITATION OF NEW BIDS COMMENT RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council reject the bids for demolition of six (6) properties (Group C -t) from the November 20, 2013 bid opening, and authorize staff to rebid the six (6) properties. We recommend rejection of the bids for Group C -t because some of the unit prices were excessive. BACKGROUND: Bids for demolition of eighteen (18) residential structures with transite siding were opened on November 20, 2013. C & C Demolition, Inc. was the low bidder for Group C -t. The average cost of demolishing a residential structure is $3,000.00. One of the bids went as high as $7,500.00 for one property. We pay less than that for some commercial demolition.
