RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION AS IT PERTAINS TO LOGAN
PARK (REQUESTED BY COUNCILMAN BEARD)
WHEREAS,
an area of

this Resolution stated

as a music park; and,
WHEREAS, it is the desire of the City Council that this area
will continue to be primarily utilized as a music park; and
the City Council further believes that any other use,
the location of recreational vehicles, should only be

org~ized uuder and by virtue of the constitution and Laws of the
State of Texas ~d domiciled in Jefferson co~ty, Texas, is the
.ownem in fie simple of a tract of land generally referred to'
~he McI~ee Survey, t~e s~e having been deeded by patent from the
state, of Texas to the City of port Arth~; and,
wH~EAS, certain citizens are now desirous and ~ious
that a portion of such Suruey be dedicated and set aside for 6he
use of the public as a ~ark wherein citizens may go~ for recreation,
pleas~e and enjo~ent;

City Co~Ssi~n that the property herein~ter described be set
aside ~d dedicated for park purposes forever, and that the right
of the public to use and enjoy the s~e shall not hereinafter be
~.~abridged, save and except that the City of port Arth~ may exercise
at all times over ~d across such proper~ ~d beneath such property
all powers that a municipal government may exercise over land
which it owns a fee si~ple title, subject to this Dedication; ~d,

p~rty will become of great value not in the financial sense, but
will serve a greater value by having the smue impressed for t~e
public use as a recreation c~nter ~d public p~k, reserving therein
the right of the City~to' run roads through the s~e, ditches t~ough

thereon equipment for ente~rtai~uent and recreation, ~d to lay

I~OWj THEREFORE, BE IT RESOL~qED by the Oity Cormuission
of the 01ty of Port Arthur, Texas, that the following described
p~operty be set aside aud dedicated as a park for the people of
Port Arthur for pa~k a~d recreation purposes, viz.:
Beginning at the most westerly end of the
~ Sabine ~ake concrete revetment, said point
being South 39 des~ees west 139% feet from
the most southerly corner of the Pleasure
Pier bulk head, thence, continuing south
39 degrees, west along the creosote pile
bulk head for a distance of 1000 feet, said
point being at the extreme west end of the
creosote pilin8 bulk head thence north 51
degrees west 1~33.6, more or less, to the
south right of way line of the Louisiana
Shortline Road, thence north 39 degrees
east, along the south right of way line of
road, a distance of 1000 feet thence south
51 degrees east a distance of 1833.6, more
or less, to point of beginning.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the name of such above-
described property shall henceforth be known as LOGAN PARE as
a monument to the long years of faithful public service of the
Honorable Jo P. Logan; and,
BE IT FURT2rER RESOLVED that the City reserve from the
above and foregoing grant the right of ingress ~ud egress thereon,
the right to open streets.through the same or to lay roads ~d
~'thoroughfam'es, and the right to construct therein memorials,
buildings, structures, statues and similar articles; further
reserving the right therein and thereunder to any snd all mineral
rights; further permitting by this Dedication the right of the City',
or its successors, to place upon such property playground equipment,
recreation equipment, swimming pools and similar equipment for the
recreation and entertainment of the public; and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a certified copy of this
instrument, duly acknowledged, be filed in the office of the County
Clerk of Jefferson County, Texas, in orde~ that the public may be
put on notice as to the intention of the City Cormaission and the
people of Port A~thur through them that the above and foregoing
property has been impressed for public use as a park and can neither
be leased nor sold, save and except by vote of the people at an
election cslle& therefor and passed by a majority of the v~te
of the citizenry of .the City of Port Arthur.
