HomeMy WebLinkAboutPO 6411: AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF ASSORTED FUNITURE/MINOR EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT, OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT SURPLUS • Memorandum City of Port Arthur, Texas Purchasing Department TO: John Comeaux, Interim City Manager FROM: Shawna Tubbs, CPPO, CPPB, Purchasing Manager DATE: September 10, 2014 SUBJECT: Proposed Ordinance No. 6411 RECOMMENDATION The Purchasing Division recommends the City Council adopt Proposed Ordinance No. 6411 authorizing the sale of assorted furniture/minor equipment, vehicles, equipment, or heavy equipment surplus which has become obsolete and/or non-functional at an on-line auction. BACKGROUND The Rene Bates Auctioneer, Inc. of McKinney, Texas will be responsible for the online auction of obsolete and/or non-functional assorted furniture/minor equipment, vehicles, equipment, or heavy equipment surplus. BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT Proceeds from the sale will be deposited in account number 001-0000-364.10-00. SUMMARY The Purchasing Division recommends the City Council adopt Proposed Ordinance No. 6411 authorizing the sale of assorted furniture/minor equipment, vehicles, equipment, or heavy equipment surplus which has become obsolete and/or non-functional at an on-line auction. AN ORDINANCE AUTHORIZING THE SALE OF SURPLUS FURNITURE/MINOR EQUIPMENT, VEHICLES, EQUIPMENT, OR HEAVY EQUIPMENT BY A PUBLIC ONLINE AUCTION THROUGH RENE BATES AUCTIONEERS, INC. WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has surplus property as described in Exhibit "A"to wit; assorted furniture/minor equipment, vehicles, equipment, or heavy equipment surplus which has become obsolete and/or non-functional; and WHEREAS, it has been determined that it would be in the best interest of the City to sell said property at an online auction to obtain the best possible price. NOW, THEREFORE BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1. That the City Manager, together with Shawna Tubbs, Purchasing Manager, are hereby authorized, pursuant to Article XIV, Section 7 of the Charter of the City of Port Arthur, to sell the above named surplus property at an auction, said property attached hereto and made a part hereof as Exhibit "A". Section 2. That the above named City officials be and are hereby authorized and empowered to execute and deliver bills of sale or other instruments necessary to transfer title to said items at the price bid. Section 3. That this being an Ordinance not requiring publication the same shall take effect and be in force immediately from and after its passage. Section 4. That a copy of the caption of this Ordinance be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council.
