Comeaux, Interim City Manager From: Chief Blanton, Chief of Police Date: 10/8/14 Re: PR 18641 RECOMMENDATION: The Police Department recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of one (1) 2015 Ford Escape SUV police vehicle from Silsbee Ford, of Silsbee, Texas, for the total not-to-exceed amount of$18,565.64. BACKGROUND: The Police Department wishes to purchase a Ford Escape SUV, which will be used by the Support Division and replaces a pickup that has high mileage and has exceeded its mechanical limits. The Police Department received three quotes for this vehicle and Silsbee Ford was the lowest, most responsive quote. BUDGETARY/FISCAL EFFECT: Funds for this purchase are available in account # 625-1801-521.93-00 . STAFFING/EMPLOYEE EFFECT: None. SUMMARY: The Police Department recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of one (1) 2015 Ford Escape SUV police vehicle from Silsbee Ford, of Silsbee, Texas, for the total not-to-exceed amount of$18,565.64. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF ONE (1) 2015 FORD ESCAPE SUV POLICE VEHICLE FROM SILSBEE FORD OF SILSBEE, TEXAS, FOR THE TOTAL NOT-TO-EXCEED AMOUNT OF $18,565. 64; FUNDING FOR THIS PURCHASE IS AVAILABLE IN POLICE ACCOUNT NO. 625-1801-521 . 93-00 . WHEREAS, the Police Department wishes to purchase a Ford Escape SUV, which will be used by the Support Division and replaces a pickup that has high mileage and has exceeded its mechanical limits; and WHEREAS, the Police Department received three (3) quotes from dealerships for this vehicle with Silsbee Ford of Silsbee, Texas, being the lowest, most responsive quote (see Bid Tabulation attached as Exhibit "A") ; and WHEREAS, the Police Department recommends that the City Council authorize the purchase of a Ford Escape SUV police vehicle Silsbee Ford of Silsbee, Texas; and WHEREAS, funds for this purchase are available in account number 625-1801-521 . 93-00 . NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: Section 1 . That the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct. Section 2 . That the Police Department is hereby authorized and directed to purchase one (1) Ford Escape SUV from Silsbee Ford of Silsbee, Texas, for the total not-to- exceed amount of $18, 565. 64, as delineated in the quote attached hereto as Exhibit "B". Section 3 . That a copy of the caption of this resolution shall be spread upon the Minutes of the City Council . READ, ADOPTED AND APPROVED on this day of , A.
