HomeMy WebLinkAboutSETIO SETIO/LSSDR PORT ARTHUR RECOVERY PROJECT Construction Report for The City of Port Arthur June 22, 2007 Homes that qualify for the Port Arthur Recovery Project typically require one or more of the following constructions activities: · Professional Work o Leveling o Roofing o Electrical o Plumbing · Volunteer Work o Sheetrock o painting and o other interior work Volunteers are used to help reduce the cost of repairs. The majority of their work is on the interior of the home once professional work is completed. With up to $3000 from LSSDR to purchase materials, most of the non-professional services can be completed by volunteers. Current capacity is at least 100 additional homes at $3,000 per home. Most of the damaged homes require a professional to do some of the work. This may involve one or more of the professional services listed above. Until the professional work has been done volunteers can not complete homes. Currently we have 12 homes in progress and 21 homes that are ready for volunteer work. These homes should be ready to begin construction by volunteers by the end of July 2007. If more homes do not have professional work completed there will be no other homes ready for volunteers and this will force us to close the volunteer program and ultimately the SETIO/LSSDR Port Arthur Recovery Project. It is our hope that the CDBG money allocated to the City of Port Arthur will be available for bids by October. When the opportunity to bid on homes is opened, we intend to bid and make use of that money to continue the project. Until then we need to find enough financial resources to pay for professional services for three months (July, August and September). See attached for an estimate of how much money we will need and how it will be spent.
