Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC began Construction Phase Services for the 24 Inch Water Line from 19th Street to Sabine-Neches Canal. Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC has requested an extension of their professional services contract on the 24 Inch Water Line from 19th Street to the Sabine-Neches Canal project, to be extended an additional 270 days to August 28, 2015, for completion and testing of the project. StaffAnalysis, Considerations: Existing staff will monitor the contractor's performance. Recommendation: I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 18967 authorizing the contract between the City of Port Arthur and Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC, of Port Arthur, Texas, for construction Phase Services for the 24 Inch Water Line from 19th Street to Sabine-Neches Canal, be extended an additional 270 days to August 28, 2015. A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AN AMENDMENT TO THE CONTRACT BETWEEN THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR AND ARCENEAUX WILSON & COLE LLC, OF PORT ARTHUR, TEXAS, FOR CONSTRUCTION PHASE SERVICES FOR THE 24 INCH WATER LINE FROM 19TH STREET TO SABINE-NECHES CANAL INCREASING THE TERM BY 270 DAYS. WHEREAS, the City of Port Arthur has committed to the construction of various water system improvements; and, WHEREAS, in Resolution 13-394, the City Council of the City of Port Arthur authorized Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC, to begin Construction Phase Services for the 24 Inch Water Line from 19th Street to Sabine-Neches Canal in the not to exceed amount of $401,160.00; and, WHEREAS, Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC has requested an extension of their professional services contract on the 24 Inch Waterline from 19th St. to the Sabine Neches Canal project; and, WHEREAS, Arceneaux Wilson & Cole LLC has requested that their agreement be extended an additional 270 days to August 28, 2015; and, WHEREAS, the extension of contract time will be necessary for the completion and testing of the project; and, NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT ARTHUR: THAT, the facts and opinions in the preamble are true and correct; and, P.R. This contract was approved by City Council on September 3, 2013, Resolution 13-394, (attached) with a notice to proceed issued on September 9, 2013. This was a Construction Phase Services contract with a duration of 450 days and expired on December 1, 2014. This this contract was originally issued to Arceneaux and Gates Consulting Engineers Inc. but was assigned to Arceneaux Wilson and Cole LLC by Resolution 14-481 (attached). We are requesting that this agreement be extended an additional 270 days to August 28, 2015. This extension of contract time will be necessary for the completion and testing of the project.
