HomeMy WebLinkAboutPR 18995: FIRST RENEWAL OF A CONTRACT, PURCHASE OF RESILIENT SEAT VALVES, FOR UTILITY OPERATIONS Citv of P.R. No. 18995 5/6/15 jt „rt rthu Texas INTEROFFICE MEMORANDUM UTILITY OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT-ADMINISTRATION Date: May 5, 2015 To: Brian McDougal, City Manager From: Jimmie Johnson, Ph.D., Director of Utility Operations RE: Proposed Resolution No. 18995 Nature of the Request: The Utility Operations Department routinely uses Resilient Seat Valves to maintain the Water and Wastewater systems throughout the City. These valves are used to isolate relatively small portions of our water system in order to minimize service disruption to larger areas during maintenance and/or expansion. Also, these water valves isolate piping throughout our treatment plants, lift stations and pump stations. The Purchasing Division has solicited bids for such resilient seat valves and the lowest bidder was MDN Enterprises of New Caney, Texas, who was awarded the contract. MDN Enterprises has agreed to extend their current pricing another year. StaffAnalysis, Considerations: Existing staff will maintain these valves in our Warehouse inventory. Recommendation: I recommend that the City Council approve Proposed Resolution No. 18995 authorizing the second year renewal of a contract for the purchase of Resilient Seat Valves with MDN Enterprises, of New Caney, Texas in the total estimated annual amount of$126,877.98. Bucket Considerations: This equipment will be maintained in our Warehouse inventory and charged to the appropriate account when used, 410-1253-532.35-00 (Water System), and 410-1255-532.33- 00 (Sanitary Sewer Systems) for routine valve installation/replacement.
